TuneTree helps you find interesting relationships between the artists in your music library.
Almost all artists do covers of standards or songs by other artists, and these performances of common songs create a family tree amongst musicians and artists. For instance Billie Holiday and Eva Cassidy both do a version of “God Bless The Child”, which creates a relationship between these artists. But John Lennon and Eva Cassidy also both do versions of “Imagine”, which not only creates a relationship between these two artists, but also between Billy Holiday and John Lennon. With a good-sized music library, you can generate relationships 10+ artists deep. Listening to such TuneTrees can give you really neat insights into your own music collection.
The app uses the iPod music library on your iPad as the basis for analysis.
